Why florapothecarie supports Global Fund for Women

1 in 3 women and girls experience violence in their lifetime. 1 in 9 girls is married before aged 15 — that's 300 million young women every year. Women make up two-thirds of the world's labor force, but only earn 10% of the income. For every 100 men in ministerial and parliamentary roles, there are only 22 women. 51% of human trafficking victims worldwide are women and 20% are young girls. Over 50% of young women aged 15-19 in developing countries who are sexually active and want to avoid pregnancy do not have access to modern contraceptives.

We need to help our sisters.

This is why I'm supporting Global Fund for Women. Global Fund for Women supports the tireless and courageous efforts of women’s groups who work every day to win rights for women and girls around the globe. These groups are working to ensure women can own property, vote, run for office, get paid fair wages, and live free from violence – including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harmful practices such as female genital mutilation.

Since 1987, Global Fund for Women has invested in nearly 5,000 women-led groups across 175 countries, helping win rights for millions of women and girls. During their 30 year history, they’ve supported women’s rights organizations to end civil wars, get female Presidents elected, and secure laws giving new protection to millions. They started the first girls’ global education fund and ignited important movements to bring an end to trafficking and to create workers’ rights. They've also helped to seed and grow over two dozen women’s funds all around the world.
