Hey there, natural beauty. I'm Sami Jo.

I founded florapothecarie because I believe women deserve better, cleaner beauty.

It began in 2009, when I looked at the ingredients on my body wash and realized I couldn't pronounce them. Through research, I discovered many were toxic chemicals that disrupt the normal functioning of our bodies and can lead to cancer and birth defects. I tossed all offending cosmetics and began studying herbalism and whipping up natural alternatives.

I use the highest quality natural, organic, and fair trade ingredients in my handcrafted bath, body, face, and haircare products. They contain absolutely no artificial colorants, fragrances, parabens, preservatives, or other toxic chemicals. Nothing you wouldn't find in nature.

  • All of our products are 100% natural, and vegan certified by Leaping Bunny and PETA.
  • We don't use any toxic chemicals in our products, which makes them safe for you and safe for the Earth. 
  • We use glass jars and paperboard containers — reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
  • Our ingredients are sustainably harvested and certified organic or non-GMO whenever possible.
  • We never use palm oil or other ingredients that contribute to the destruction of our natural world.
  • Our boxes, tissue paper and marketing collateral are made from or printed on recycled materials.
  • All of our wholesale orders are shipped carbon neutral.
  • We recycle and compost everything we possibly can. Our recycling bin is always more full than our trash!
  • We regularly donate to nonprofit organizations in support of women, BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.

While florapothecarie is technically a Single-Member LLC, I'm incredibly grateful to have some really supportive family members. You might see my husband Dave or sister Amy helping me at a market, but they also help me out A TON behind the scenes—and occasionally as models in front of the camera! If you're REALLY lucky, you'll get to see my son Milo pushing my cart (he'll tell you it's his cart) or hand you a business card. 💖
