New to natural?
You've learned there are some not-so-great ingredients in your cosmetics, but you're a little overwhelmed by navigating the natural beauty landscape. With all this talk of "clean beauty" and "green beauty" - there is so much information out there, and a whole lot of mislabeling and greenwashing.
We're here to help you figure out what clean beauty truly is, and how to get started with a natural skincare ritual that works for you.
But let's start with the foundation of our mission: you are already beautiful, exactly as you are.
florapothecarie is:
Truly 100% natural. And vegan!
At florapothecarie, natural beauty isn't a gimmick or phrase we use to sell more. Every product we create (by hand!) is 100% natural. We don't use any chemical preservatives, manmade fragrances, fillers, or artificial colorants. In essence: we don't use anything that can't be found in nature. Our ingredients are listed in simple language because we've got nothing to hide, and we want you to know exactly what's inside.
What exactly is green beauty/clean beauty/natural beauty? Isn't it better to get things that are organic? Organic skincare products are great, but not necessarily 100% natural. Lots of companies use natural and organic ingredients in their products, then mix in really toxic chemical preservatives or artificial fragrances too. Your best bet? Buy products that are actually 100% natural. Do your research, read the labels, and don't buy anything with long chemical names that you can't pronounce. (That's how our founder, Sami, got started!)
florapothecarie is also certified vegan and cruelty-free by PETA and Leaping Bunny. We don't use any animal fats or by-products, and none of our ingredients or final products are tested on animals. Because we love animals, we love the planet, and we love you.
What does a natural skincare routine look like?
When you're making the switch to natural beauty, it can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what you really need in your skincare routine. Big Beauty tells us that we need dozens of products, but really, it comes down to just three products you need every day, and a fourth 2-3 times a week:
1. Cleanse
Wash your face daily with a gentle, acne-fighting but non-drying cleanser.
2. Exfoliate
2-3 times a week, exfoliate with a gentle abrasive to prevent dead skin from clogging your pores.
3. Tone & Hydrate
Toners help restore your skin's natural pH level, tighten pores, refresh and hydrate your skin.
4. Moisturize
Cleansing removes our skin's natural oils, and if we don't replace it, our skin will either dry out or over-produce oil.
