Are florapothecarie products really 100% natural?
Yes! I use only truly natural ingredients, nothing manmade. This means absolutely no artificial fragrances or colorants, no preservatives, nothing you wouldn't find in nature.
And your products are vegan too?
Yep! I don't even use beeswax. Neither me finished products, nor the ingredients I use are tested on animals. We are certified by Leaping Bunny and PETA as cruelty-free and vegan.
Do you make all of your products in the U.S.?
Yes, all florapothecarie products are handmade by Sami Jo Artus in Connecticut. Sometimes, her wonderful husband (Dave) helps too!
Where do you buy your ingredients?
I purchase my ingredients only from the most trusted, environmentally-minded sources. Most of my ingredients come from within the United States and are Certified Organic by the USDA. I make sure materials that come from outside of the US are Fair Trade Certified. I do not - nor will I ever - buy any of my essential oils from MLM companies like doTERRA or Young Living as I believe the quality of these oils are not up to my standards and they engage in unethical business, marketing, and unsustainable harvesting practices.
You don't use preservatives, so what's the shelf life of your products?
The shelf life varies by product, but they typically last 12-24 months on a shelf, and 6-12 months once opened. You can extend the life by keeping products out of sunlight and at room temperature or below. Though I do not use artificial preservatives, I do use Vitamin E (a natural preservative) in many of my products.
Why did my Rose & Tea Toner or bath salt become darker? Why does my Rose & Sea Salt Hair Spray look cloudy?
The appearance of your Rose & Tea Toner, bath salt, or Rose & Sea Salt Hair Spray may change as a result of the natural ingredients within them. Green Tea Extract tends to darken over time, which may give your toner a tan color. The Dead Sea and Pink Himalayan salts in the bath salts and Rose & Sea Salt Hair Spray may dissolve more or settle. Neither of these processes will make these products less effective or "go bad."
I have a nut or soy allergy. Can I use your products?
Allergies are such a pain, right? I try to keep florapothecarie products as hypoallergenic as possible, so I do not use Almond Oil in any of my products. However, I do use Coconut Oil and Shea Butter in many products, so please avoid these if you are sensitive to those nuts. Our Vitamin E is sourced from soybeans, so those with severe soy allergies should avoid any of our products that contain Vitamin E. It's best to talk to your doctor before trying my products if you have a severe nut or soy allergy. I also recommend starting with my travel/trial size sets before purchasing full-size.
Why do your shipping rates seem high?
I use glass jars and bottles to house all of my products because glass is easily reusable, recyclable, and (unlike plastic) is impervious chemical breakdown by essential oils. But this does make packages a bit heavier. I make every effort to keep shipping costs down while also ensuring no breakage.
I live outside the US and Canada. Why can't I buy your products?
florapothecarie is an extremely small company — just run by one person! So, it's very difficult (and expensive) to set up shipping solutions outside of the US and Canada. But stick with me and, as florapothecarie grows, I'll do my best to expand to other countries. :)
I have questions about the Rewards program.
For questions about the florapothecarie rewards program, please visit the Rewards page. You'll find an FAQ at the bottom of the page that should hopefully answer all your questions!
Do you wholesale your products?
I sure do! I particularly like to work with other women-owned small businesses, and those who value preserving the earth, animal & human welfare, and equal rights. I do not wholesale to companies who seek to sell my products on Amazon. I do not sell my products on Amazon, and I'm proud not to! If you're interested in carrying florapothecarie in your physical shop or on your website, visit my wholesale page for more information. Please do not fill out our generic contact form.
